There are certain trips that you look forward to for months. You study maps, mark places you want to see, and begin counting down the days until you can finally hit the road. This year’s adventure is one of those trips.

We’ll be setting out from Northern Minnesota on a 10-day motorcycle journey that will take us through two countries, across thousands of miles, and all the way to one of the most beautiful national parks in the United States: Acadia National Park in Maine.

The route itself is almost as exciting as the destination.

We’ll travel east through Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, cross into Canada at Sault Ste. Marie, spend two days making our way toward the Atlantic coast, enjoy four days exploring Acadia National Park, and then slowly work our way home by staying south of the Great Lakes. One of the highlights of the return trip will be boarding the historic SS Badger and crossing Lake Michigan before making our final push back to Northern Minnesota.

This isn’t simply a vacation. It’s an adventure.

Days 1 & 2: Northern Minnesota to the Atlantic Coast

The first two days will be dedicated to reaching Acadia.

We’ll leave Northern Minnesota before sunrise, point the bikes east, and settle into the rhythm that only long-distance motorcycle travel can provide. There’s something special about those first miles of a trip. The excitement is high, everything is packed, and every mile ahead is unknown.

We’ll ride through Michigan’s Upper Peninsula before crossing into Ontario at Sault Ste. Marie.

Traveling through Canada always feels different. The pace slows down. The roads seem to stretch endlessly through forests and small communities, and there are moments where it feels like civilization disappears entirely.

Those are often the best moments.

Long stretches of open highway allow time to think, appreciate the scenery, and simply enjoy being out on the road.

Eventually, the endless forests will begin giving way to the Atlantic coastline as we approach Maine and one of the most anticipated stops of the entire trip.

Days 3 Through 6: Four Days in Acadia National Park

We’ll spend four full days exploring Acadia National Park, and honestly, that’s one of the things I’m looking forward to the most.

Too often on long trips we find ourselves rushing from destination to destination without taking enough time to truly experience a place. This time, we’re intentionally slowing down.

Acadia is a destination that deserves it.

Nestled along Maine’s rugged coastline, Acadia offers some of the most spectacular scenery in the country. Granite cliffs rise from the Atlantic Ocean while winding roads connect breathtaking overlooks and historic landmarks.

During our time there, we hope to:

  • Ride the entire Park Loop Road.
  • Explore the carriage roads and historic stone bridges.
  • Wander through Bar Harbor.
  • Enjoy fresh seafood and local restaurants.
  • Find a few hidden gems along the coastline.
  • Spend time simply soaking it all in.

Some of the best travel moments aren’t planned at all.

Maybe it’ll be finding a quiet overlook with nobody else around. Maybe it’ll be stumbling across a local coffee shop. Maybe it’ll simply be sitting by the ocean after a long day of riding.

Those unplanned moments often become the memories that last the longest.

Days 7 Through 10: The Long Way Home

Eventually every adventure begins pointing toward home.

Rather than retracing our route through Canada, we’ll head west and stay south of the Great Lakes to experience an entirely different side of the journey.

This route will take us through several states, countless small towns, scenic highways, and roads we have never traveled before.

The return trip will be less about reaching a destination and more about enjoying the ride itself.

One stop I’m especially excited about is the SS Badger.

The SS Badger is a historic car ferry that crosses Lake Michigan between Michigan and Wisconsin. Instead of riding around the lake, we’ll roll the motorcycles onto the ship and spend several hours crossing one of the largest freshwater lakes in the world.

How often do you get to include a boat ride in a motorcycle trip?

It’s a unique experience that will break up the ride home and add another unforgettable memory to an already incredible journey.

From Wisconsin, we’ll make our final push west toward home, eventually returning to Northern Minnesota after ten days on the road.

Why We Choose to Travel This Way

People often ask why we ride motorcycles on trips like this.

Flying would be faster.

Driving would be easier.

Both are true.

But neither allows you to experience a journey in quite the same way.

On a motorcycle, you’re part of everything around you.

You notice the temperature changes as you cross state lines. You smell the pine forests before you see them. You feel the ocean air long before you arrive at the coastline.

You experience every mile.

Motorcycle travel forces you to slow down and appreciate the spaces in between destinations.

The road itself becomes part of the adventure.

Over ten days, we’ll cross international borders, explore one of America’s most beautiful national parks, travel thousands of miles, and sail across Lake Michigan aboard a historic steamship.

We’ll probably encounter rain.

We’ll almost certainly run into road construction.

There will be long days, tired muscles, and moments when we’re ready for our own beds.

But those moments are part of the story too.

Because in the end, this isn’t about getting somewhere quickly.

It’s about creating memories one mile at a time.

Ten days.

Two countries.

Thousands of miles.

One incredible adventure.

Acadia National Park, here we come.

Stay tuned as we share photos, stories, and highlights from every step of the journey. The countdown has officially begun.
